The joy of the Ruach Shalom gatherings

Memories and considerations as to what a chavurah can be/become bring up the revolutionary roots of the chavurah in the evolution of Judaism. Gathering with various Jews and non Jews to meet on a regular basis, to study, to pray to whatever one believes to be of significance, and of course to share pot luck meals are the foundation of chavurot as far as I understand.

Accumulating and sharing knowledge, developing confidence, experiencing and discovering individual leadership skills are qualities that come with this phenomenon. Welcoming the Shabbat and each other is a wonderful way to create the concept of BEYACHAD.  Being together and experiencing not being alone.

For me prepping for Shabbat has become a part of my routine.  A joy and at times even a burden.  When I am alone, the soups taste different, there is only my cat to speak with and I still go to sleep early in the evening (no longer Beauty sleep but now my insurance policy for a longer life). When I remember that Ruach Shalom people will be coming for a Shabbos or Yom Tov, I clean and straighten my house as best I can, organize my shoppings on Wednesdays. So on THURSDAYS I can cook, and on Fridays make certain that there is enough food and toilet paper, and that my kitchen is ready to receive the Shabbes Queens and Kings.

We have received groups of five and crowds of 22. Some people have been with us once. Others are here every time.We even Zoom our evenings when possible and necessary. The shared meals are a joy to behold and enjoy.  Somehow it all comes together, and tastes delicious. Discussions around the table are not only entertaining but are of significance as well.

Self reflection and levels of honesty is always important. My question of the day is:
Are we truly inclusive in promoting our spirit of Beyachad-ness?  Are we content with how we are now or do we feel the need to open these doors to others? Is Dayenu enough for now?

Looking forward to being beyachad on June 1.  Hoping to embrace each other and Shavuos BEYACHAD.
